It’s sweata weatha!!! Wahoo! Problem is, I’m a summer girl who enters fall one toe at a time until I absolutely have to concede that another summer has come and gone.
But as we are leaving confusing shoe season and entering the full-on Fall chill, there are some basic things that help me get excited for the shorter days. And well…us basic girls have to stick together and share secrets ya know? So here is a master list I have compiled (with links) to my Fall Favorites - things that are tried and true and that I absolutely cannot live without.
Clothing
First thing’s first - a basic long sleeve. Number one because it will protect your skin, and second because it’s so dang cute. This mock neck long sleeve from Amazon does the job and it looks great on everyone. By the way - shout out to the girls who post picture reviews on Amazon, there is a special spot in heaven reserved just for you.
If you are feeling a little more boujee, the square neck long sleeves from Joah Brown are so soft and have amazing quality - they are definitely worth the money if you are planning to splurge a little.
My go-to fall look is jeans with a basic top and a cardigan, I mean you really can’t go wrong. The best basics I have found are from Express - this crew neck tank goes with EVERYTHING. It’s soft and buttery and I could sleep in it, it’s that comfortable. I’m also loving Skims soft smoothing t-shirt. These are the super-fitted neutral-colored tees that you always see Kim and her sisters wearing on their show that are an excellent base for any outfit.
I will go out on a limb and say that if you’re going to invest in one thing, it would be a great pair of black booties. These naturalizer booties are my favorite. They always get compliments when I wear them and the best part is they are SO COMFORTABLE.
Skincare
We’ve talked before about how to change your skincare during the fall season. Now is the time to increase the strength of your retinol and turn up the exfoliation. Of course, always do this in phases and change one thing at a time. But these are some of the specific products I’m obsessed with.
Every night I’ve been using First Aid Beauty retinol: this is an excellent starter retinol that is very well tolerated by most skin types. It has never irritated my skin or made it flaky and red…instead it gives the best glow from within. This is that key ingredient that will reflect light off the skin!
Next, always I love Dermalogica daily superfoliant: this one has had so many mentions because it’s just a staple in my exfoliation routine.
Then because it has actives that target acne, the Ordinary salicylic acne mask or serum… is a cult favorite. It is beloved by SO MANY, particularly those who struggle with stubborn breakouts.
And of course ALWAYS ALWAYS: a sunscreen - you have to protect your skin investment. Right now I’m loving elta MD UV Restore. If you have ever wanted to try the most amazing sunscreen in the world, I recommend you give this one a shot. It leaves the skin looking so healthy and has never broken me out.
Your skin texture and needs may change with the season depending on the severity of weather change in your area so switching out one to two products will give you that extra boost and freshness in your routine!
Beauty
Absolutely any hairstyle with a clip is my jam right now. There are so many different clips to choose from but this 8 pack basically goes with any outfit.
For my hair, this overnight hair serum from Joico has completely transformed my hair and it gives it a refreshing smoothness every single night. It doesn’t buildup and is so lightweight, especially on my bleached blonde hair.
For my skin instead of foundation, I have been using It Cosmetics CC cream. This is so light and goes on dewey AF on the skin! People always comment on my skin when I use this CC cream, and I would HIGHLY recommend buying it. P.S - it’s cheaper on Amazon than in Ulta.
Lifestyle
I have been making my own pumpkin coffee drinks at home because I’m trying to break a Starbucks addiction, but that’s a whole other post. This Laird Superfood Non-Dairy Original Superfood Pumpkin Spice creamer is a delicious powder coffee creamer that mixes seamlessly with your coffee. It’s not clumpy or sugary at all and I like to froth it with the oat milk before adding it to espresso or regular coffee. Trust me on this one, it’s instant whipped happiness in a cup.
The vibe we are setting is Taylor Swift’s new Album “Midnights” - If this isn’t the soundtrack to your life this fall, then what are you doing?
Sometimes I have no idea where to even start to look, so these are my favorite websites to shop at for fall clothes: Express, Joah Brown, 12th Tribe, Vici, and of course Amazon.
And there you have it my friends - a basic girl’s guide to being even more basic this fall. From pumpkin spice to wardrobe, I hope this list finds you well. Comment below things you absolutely cannot live without this Fall!
