Can you get a Brazilian Sugar Wax while pregnant?

May 7, 2022 Guest User
A gloved hand is sugar waxing a leg on the left side and on the right side there is a pregnant woman in a pink dress with a thinking face. Text overlay on the image reads "Sugar Waxing While Pregnant?"

So you got addicted to sugaring and now you’re thinking “Great- another thing I can’t do for 9 months.”

Well- the short answer is YES. You CAN get a brazilian wax while pregnant.

There are just a few considerations-

Your body and skin are going through some major changes (of course, you already know this). Maybe you are starting to grow hair in places you never even knew you could!

Because there is such an increase in blood flow, you are at a higher risk for bleeding. This can also alter your pain tolerance, so buckle up!

So now you know the risk- what’s next?

  1. First and foremost- do NOT get an at-home wax kit and have your significant other do it. Listen, I have heard the stories. And let me tell you, they rarely end up happily ever after. I am all for do-it-yourself projects, but this is one that should be left to the professionals.

  2. Choose a reputable sugaring establishment and an esthetician you can trust. Sugar is only three all-natural ingredients, so you don’t have to worry about any of the harsh chemicals in wax.  Additionally, estheticians are trained to exercise caution and extreme care with women who are pregnant. A good esthetician will educate you on the risks while making you feel safe and comfortable. (Click here to learn about the differences between regular wax and sugar.)

  3. Proper aftercare is essential. Regular exfoliating and applying an all-natural lotion or oil will help soothe the area.

And that’s just your Brazilian! Can’t see your legs? Get sugared! Underarms? Arms? Sugaring is a great way to outsource all the things you don’t feel like doing when it comes to hair removal. You only have to think about it for 30 minutes once every 4-6 weeks and the result is baby soft smooth skin to match your baby’s soft bottom.
